About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand, the barrel pointing upwards, before transferring the weapon to his right hand. In his left hand, besides the musket, a burning match (no. 30), ca. 1600. Plate 30 from the instructions for handling the musket: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'rechte ghebruyck des Roers.
