About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) in his left hand, the barrel pointing upward, before transferring the weapon to his right hand. In his left hand, besides the musket, a lit match (no. 30), ca. 1600. Plate 30 in the instructions for handling the musket.
