About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a certain type of firearm) with his left hand (no. 8), ca. 1600. With thumb and middle finger of his right hand he gives the burning match on the cock (part of the ignition mechanism) of his musket the correct position and shape.
