About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, closing the pan (the powder reservoir) of his musket (a certain type of firearm) with his right hand (no. 17), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the musket, also a burning match. Plate 17 in the instructions for handling the musket.
