About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, shaking a musket (a certain type of firearm) with both hands, to remove any powder that may have fallen out of the pan (the powder reservoir) (no. 18), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the barrel of the musket, also a burning match. Plate 18 in the instructions for handling the musket.
