A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand, the barrel pointing upwards, before transferring the weapon to his right hand. In his left hand, besides the musket, he holds a lit match (no. 30), ca. 1600. This is the same position as the one shown on the first print of the series. Plate 30 in the instructions for handling the musket: Brief enseignement, sur la representation des figures, du droit maniement de l'Harquebuse.
