About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a spear (lance) vertically in the crook of his right arm with his right hand (no. 4), ca. 1600. This is the third movement for raising the spear upright. Plate 4 in the instructions for handling the spear: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'recht ghebruyck, van al t'ghene een Soldaet int handelen vande Spies noodich is.
