About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, with a musket (a specific type of firearm) resting on his left shoulder. In his left hand, besides the butt of the musket, a lit match (no. 33), ca. 1600. This is the same position as the one shown on the first print of the series. Plate 33 in the instructions for handling the musket.
