About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a spear (lance) vertically with both hands high above the ground (no. 5), ca. 1600. This is the first movement for lowering the spear upright to the ground. Plate 5 in the instructions for handling the spear: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'recht ghebruyck, van al t'ghene een Soldaet int handelen vande Spies noodich is.
