About this work
A soldier, full-length, holding a spear (lance) upright with both hands in front of him high above the ground (no. 3), ca. 1600. This is the second action for raising the spear upright. Plate 3 in the instructions for handling the spear: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe belanghende trechte gebruck, van alle t'ghene een Soldaet int handelen vande Spies noodich is.
