A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a caliver (a type of firearm) with his left hand after having fired, the barrel angled upwards to prevent accidentally wounding a comrade (no. 12), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the caliver, a lit match. Plate 12 in the instructions for handling the caliver: Shorte instruction upon the contrefaictinges, touching the right use of calivers.
