About this work
A soldier, full-length, pouring powder from a powder flask into the pan (the powder reservoir) of a caliver (a type of firearm) (no. 16), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the caliver, a lit match. Plate 16 in the instructions for handling the caliver: Shorte instruction upon the contrefaictinges, touching the right use of calivers.
