Strip of bobbin lace with cup-shaped flower under an overhanging wave

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Honiton lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of a band forming overhanging waves, with under each foam head a hanging narrow goblet flower. Between the successive goblets hangs from the wavy band a small rosette flower on a stem with two leaves. Towards the top spring from the overhanging wave three stems with on each a smaller goblet flower. The motifs are connected by a plait ground, with picoted plaits. They are made in linen stitch and mesh stitch with openwork edges. In each wave top three relief contour lines are applied. In the goblet flowers a decorative ground with square motifs in buttonhole stitch is applied. The upper side of the strip is finished straight with a band in linen stitch. The scalloped edge along the lower side results from the petals of the goblet flowers and small rosette flowers and is finished with picots.
