About this work

Tablecloth of linen damask with the trade and shipping of Amsterdam. Central field: the asymmetric pattern repeats six times horizontally and two and a half times vertically: 1 a three-master with high stern and manned by one figure, sailing on the waves. 2 city view with gate and towers, above which birds and AMSTERDAM, 3 the city coat of arms of Amsterdam (pale with three crosses, encircled by two laurel branches and crowned with imperial crown. As supporters an angel with scales and an angel with sword). 4 Hermes, turned to the left, with winged hat and shoes, with his staff above three barrels. Standing borders: single border with spiral vines with flower variations.
