Tablecloth with London and the River Thames

Tablecloth of linen damask with London and the River Thames. The symmetrical pattern, repeated twice vertically and three times horizontally, depicts four scenes: 1. A rider turning, the horse looking back. A field marshal with a staff is dressed in a justaucorps and half-high riding boots. 2. The crowned coat of arms of London (cross with sword in a quarter), flanked by angels with trumpets; in the distance a row of houses and a city gate. 3. A river with a three-masted ship with reefed sails, a skiff in the background. Inscription: THE RIVER THAMES. 4. A city view with houses, streets, the Tower, and in the center St Paul's Cathedral. Inscription: LONDON. Double standing borders divided by a line: volute scrolls forming halved cartouches with fruit and flower fillings; outside: block border with fruit and flower fillings.
