Strip of bobbin lace with flower cup from which four narrow feathered plumes spring

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Valenciennes lace. The repeating pattern consists of a curved stem with leaves and one flower from which four narrow feathered plumes spring. Under the successive flowers lie along the lower edge of the strip always three one-sidedly directed rosette flowers, each with a feathered leaf. The motifs are connected by a fine lattice ground, a net ground, which is sown with square knots. The motifs are made in linen stitch with mostly large cut-outs and thicker and shiny contour threads. Decorative grounds have been applied in the flowers and the largest leaves. The knots are made in buttonhole stitch. The upper edge of the strip is finished straight. The bobbin lace band along the lower edge is finished with picots.
