Strip of bobbin lace with lotus flower

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists of a lotus flower with lush volute leaf, which at the top of the strip springs from a more or less diamond-shaped motif. The volute leaf hangs down to the lower side, while the flower turns upwards with a curve. The motifs are made in linen stitch and net stitch with thicker and shiny contour threads. The motifs are connected by a lattice ground, a five-hole ground. As a decorative ground a snowflake ground is applied. The slightly scalloped lower side comes from the pattern and is finished with picots. The upper side is finished straight.
