Strip of mixed lace with a wavy stem and various large flowers and leaves

Strip of natural-coloured mixed lace: old Milanese lace or old Flemish bobbin lace in parts, where the bobbin motifs are connected by a needle lace ground of festooned spiles with picots. The repeating pattern consists of a wavy stem with one wave peak and one wave trough and various large flowers and leaves on curling side branches. Between the successive wavy stems hangs an exotic flower that is surrounded by various rosette flowers. The outlines of the motifs are largely made in linen stitch with openwork edges and large cut-outs. Within the contours of the flowers and leaves a great variety of decorative grounds has been applied. Top and bottom side of the strip are finished with straight bands. The upper band is bobbin-edged with a chain of openwork ovals. The lower band is straight and narrow and made in linen stitch with picots.
