About this work

Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Pattern with a repetitive motif of various scrolls bearing diverse flowers on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. Between the scrolls, openwork figures, including half-ovals. The half-ovals are filled with a decorative ground featuring six-pointed flowers; they span the entire width of the strip and are crowned by a narcissus. The scalloped lower edge is formed partly by the scroll pattern and partly by narrow horizontal leaf scrolls with individual flowers. The upper side is edged with a bobbin lace border.
