About this work

Writing cabinet of walnut, divided into lower and upper cabinet. The upper cabinet has carved herm caryatids on the corner stiles. The central field, to be used as a writing surface, shows an oval relief with six dancing girls around a tree. The frieze is decorated with shawms and masks. The lower cabinet has herm atlantes on the corner stiles and two doors, decorated in relief with figures symbolizing Autumn and Winter. The sides show smooth panels. The reliefs are surrounded by scrollwork.
