About this work

Linen damask napkin with a large pattern of acanthus scrolls intersected by acanthus scrolls. Border lines of symmetrically placed acanthus scrolls with floral filling form touching spirals, hollow pointed arches, quarter-circles, and opposing spirals. Acanthus vines with netting and branching form C-scrolls. Horizontal borders: stepped zigzag bands with triangles and three-flowered sprigs between them. Vertical borders: alternating diamond and cross-shaped cartouches. Corners: torus. Inner and outer borders with reciprocal pomegranate vine. Surrounding: block border.
