Strip or collar of needle lace with semicircular and triangular panels

Strip or collar of natural-coloured needle lace: Argentan lace. Curved strip-shaped model. The pattern consists of flower scrolls forming semi-circular fields with the rounding downwards, which are intersected by striped ribbons forming triangular fields. From the upper side of the strip hang flower branches downwards into the fields and along the underside of the strip lie smaller flowers and leaves and at regular intervals a rocaille-shaped cartouche in which ornamental stitches are applied. The motifs are built up from festoon stitches with cutouts and provided with relief contours. In the fields alternating coarse and fine grounds are applied: a coarse hexagonal ground with festooned meshes - an Argentan ground - and a fine hexagonal mesh ground, an Alençon ground. The upper side of the strip is finished straight with a bobbin lace strip. The shallow shell border along the underside is finished with picots. The short sides are also finished.
