Cuff of needle lace with a symmetrical pattern with a flower vase, vines with feathered leaves and irises

Engageante of natural-colored needle lace: flat Venetian net ground lace (?). The pattern has a vase with symmetrically arranged flowers, flanked by two turned walking vines, to which large flowers with "house in house" work. The pattern furthermore has an iris flanked by cluster flowers. The motifs are made with untwisted buttonhole stitches between which numerous fine cutouts are made. A slightly thicker, but equally fine contour thread is used to accentuate pattern parts. The motifs are connected to each other by a fine mesh ground with crosswise loops. In and around most flowers and leaves very fine decorative grounds are applied in many variants, including decorative grounds with diamonds, 'partridge eyes', blocks and zigzag lines. The scalloped edge comes from the pattern and is finished with picots. The top side is straight and finished with a buttonhole band. On the right side the engageante is extended with a strip of the same type of lace.
