About this work

Strip of natural-coloured needle lace: Alençon lace. Pattern with high and wide spreading split flower branches on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. One of the three branches always forms a half oval along the lower edge, which is filled with alternating ornamental grounds. The underside is finished with a picotted shell border, originating from a pattern of lying leaves and flowers and some small spaces filled with ornamental grounds. The upper side is finished with a bobbin lace border.
