Strip of appliqué lace with flower branches above a border of oval cartouches

Strip of natural-coloured Brussels appliqué lace: needle lace applied on drochel ground. The pattern consists along the lower side of the strip of oval cartouches, above which alternating a flower branch with some flowers and leaves and a larger twisting branch with some flowers and many side branches with small leaves on both sides. Three variations occur of both the flower branches and twisting branches. The sparse full work is enclosed by festooned thread bundles. Various decorative grounds have been applied in the ovals with coarser meshes, the finer drochel ground does not run behind here. The upper side is finished with a separately bobbin-edged band. The shallow and irregularly scalloped lower side is finished with very fine picots.
