Strip of Bobbin Lace with Forget-Me-Nots and Two Composite Branches

Strip of natural-coloured Brussels bobbin lace. The repeating pattern consists of a hanging branch with a cluster of rosette flowers followed by two differently composed branches, with many leaves, a single flower and berries. The branches spring from the lower side, both with a branch to the left and right. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, a drochel ground. The full work is largely made in linen stitch with openwork edges and cut-outs. Some berries have a net stitch filling. Most motifs are provided with bobbin-relief contours. Various decorative grounds have been applied, including picoted plait grounds. The upper side and short sides are finished straight. The irregularly scalloped lower side is finished with picots.
