Strip of bobbin lace with hanging flower pot on a garland along the upper edge

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Mechlin lace. The repeating pattern consists of an inverted flower pot, which hangs along the top edge from a continuous garland. Along the bottom edge, between the downward hanging flower branches, lies alternately a row of oval cartouches formed by leaves and flowers and an inverted flower pot with a symmetrical bouquet. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch and provided with thicker and shiny contour threads. Various decorative grounds are applied in the flower pots and in the cartouches. The top and bottom edges are finished straight, with the bottom edge provided with picots.
