About this work
Chair of rosewood. Upholstered seat. The legs with house and jointing are connected by eight stretchers; four are scalloped in an accolade shape and four with a hollow dentil molding. The back posts carry a braided band with a loop pattern with palmette or rosette. The top two back stretchers have five arches on balusters at the bottom, further decorated with rosettes, dentil molding and acanthus leaf. The scalloped top stretcher has rooster heads at the corners with drapery in the beak and further a cherub, fruits and on top three vases.
