About this work
Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Valenciennes lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of a rosette flower between heart-shaped leaves and grape leaves. The motifs are connected to each other by a mesh ground, a diamond-shaped Valenciennes ground, scattered with knots. The motifs are made in linen stitch with cutouts and openwork edges. One half of the heart-shaped leaf is made in net stitch. The flower center is decorated with a ring between four braids. The cutouts in the petals are decorated with overlapping pairs. Top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, with the bottom provided with picots.
