Linen spread with embroidery and reticella

Spread consisting of sewn-together linen squares and rectangles, embroidered in openwork (open needlework) with oval leaves, each containing a lengthwise axis of a double thread. Running around the spread is an insert of needle lace - reticella - and a strip of shells. The embroidery features stars, rosettes, leaves and daisies. The lace has a pattern of wheels and stars. Running around the spread is a strip of linen with a double scroll of ovals and squares. In the outer edge is embroidered MDL (1550).
