About this work

Strip of natural-colored Brussels bobbin lace. The pattern consists of many small motifs, with the female bust in the center standing out. Along the bottom edge are mostly C-shaped motifs linked together to form a border with scallops. The motifs are connected by picoted plaited grounds. The motifs are made in linen stitch with cutouts, partly with openwork edges and partly with cutwork relief contours. Various decorative grounds are applied in the motifs, including a decorative ground with squares made in form stitch. The top edge is finished straight. The scallops along the bottom edge are finished with picots.
