About this work

Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Repetitive motif of double vertical spirals and a scatter motif of flowers and dots on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. A horizontally twisting line with bows and circles runs through the pattern at approximately three-quarters of the upper edge. The upper side is edged with a bobbin lace border. The lower edge is formed by a horizontal spiral with a picoted arch border beneath it. The space between the spiral and the arches is filled with a decorative ground.
