Strip of bobbin lace with hanging bellflowers

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Lille lace. Under a scattered pattern of square buttonholes the repeating pattern consists of a hanging goblet flower, on a curved stem with three round leaves. The goblet flowers are placed against each other and form the scallops along the underside of the strip. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, a tulle ground. The filling in the goblet flower is made in linen stitch, with an openwork center band and provided with thicker and shiny contour threads. The stem and leaves are made with contour threads where in the leaves a decorative ground is used. The buttonholes are made in buttonhole stitch. The top edge of the strip is finished straight. The scallops along the underside are finished with picots.
