Strip of needle lace with straw leaves and vine border

Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Sprig motif with two rows of twigs with four or five leaves on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. The pattern at the bottom of the strip consists of arches filled with a finer mesh ground. In the arches alternately a configuration of four times four sprigs or a twig. From the arches spring alternately a single and a double twig. The arches are formed by small linked ovals, filled with a filler ground with wheel picots. All leaves filled with buttonhole stitch with hardly any openings. Shallow scalloped edge with linked leaves and small oval finished with very fine picots. The upper edge is finished with a border of bobbin lace.
