Edge of needle lace with a row of leafy sprigs and a lower border of linked medallions from which leafy sprigs emerge

Engageante of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Below a row of diagonally placed leafy branches, a repeating pattern of linked medallions runs along the lower edge of the strip, in two alternating variants. In one medallion, a fine mesh ground is used as a decorative ground, and in the other, a coarser diamond-grid ground. From the medallions with the grid grounds, a single leafy branch always emerges. The motifs are connected by an Alençon ground with twisted meshes. The upper edge is finished straight with a cutwork band. The very flat scalloped edge is finished with picots.
