About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: blonde technique, but bobbin-laced with cotton thread. Below diagonal bands, which alternate between a tulle ground and a rose ground, runs along the lower side of the strip a repeating pattern with flowers forming the shell edge. One flower under each diagonal band. The flowers have the same shape, but under the bands with a tulle ground the flower hearts are filled with a rose ground and vice versa. The petals are partly made in net stitch and partly openwork and are accentuated by contour threads. The top side of the strip is finished straight. The shell edge is finished with picots.
