Japon strip of needle lace with daisies and flowers with circular petals around a circular flower centre

Japanese strip of natural-colored needle lace: Brussels mesh lace. The repeating pattern consists along the underside of the strip of three C-scrolls, which form the frame of a diagonally placed medallion. The medallion is crowned by a daisy from which subsequently a drop-shaped motif emerges, which lies along the underside of the strip and is also built up from C-scrolls. Between the successive medallions with drops lie two large daisies along the underside of the strip. From here springs a flower branch with long narrow branches that bend to the left and right and on which various types of flowers are attached, including two large flowers that are built up from circles around a circular flower heart. Flower garlands with fine flowers hang from the top side of the strip down between the flower branches. The motifs are made with festoon stitches and provided with thicker and thinner relief contours and double-layered flower hearts in the daisies.
