About this work
Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Valenciennes lace. The repeating pattern consists of a curved stem from which a grape leaf hangs down. The leaf partially cuts through the wavy decorative band running along the underside. The band consists of four lobes between the leaves, with four berries in each. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a diamond-shaped Valenciennes ground, scattered with small knots. The motifs are made in linen stitch with cutouts and openwork edges. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, with the underside provided with picots.
