Strip of bobbin lace with rose branches

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. Under a scatter pattern of bows stands along the lower edge of the strip a repeating pattern of one-sided rose sprigs with three branches. At the top two branches sit a leaf or a rosebud and next to it a rose with five petals. At the bottom branch hangs a larger flower down in a half-round shell. The motifs are worked in sparingly applied and openwork linen stitch, with thicker and shiny contour threads. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground, the Mechelen ground. A ground is applied in the openwork flower hearts of the larger flowers. The upper edge of the strip is straight finished. The scalloped edge along the lower edge of the strip is finished with picots.
