Strip of bobbin lace with rose branch in hexagon and two wavy flower garlands

Strip of black bobbin lace, Chantilly lace. The strip is part of a longer strip used for a crinoline petticoat. The repeating pattern consists of hexagonal fields, formed by crossing decorative bands. In each hexagonal field lies a rose branch. Above the hexagons run two synchronously wavy flower garlands, the lower garland cutting across the upper points of the hexagons. Between the hexagons, the lower flower garland and the shell border, bell-shaped fields are created, with one large rose always in the lower one and a feather-shaped leaf in the mirrored bell-shaped field above. The motifs are made in net ground with contour threads and are connected to each other by a fine grid ground, a tulle ground. A rose ground is used as decorative ground in, among others, flower hearts and decorative bands. The upper side of the strip is finished straight. The shell border along the lower side of the strip is finished with picots.
