Strip of black bobbin lace with wavy upright branches

Strip of black silk bobbin lace, Chantilly lace. The pattern repeats and consists of wavy standing branches, which originate in the valleys of a scroll and then rise well above them. The scroll consists of a double pearl line filled with triple leaves and has wide valleys and narrow tops, forming a kind of half cartouche. From the narrow tops hangs a long branch straight down, ending in one flower. The shell border is formed by a wavy scroll of linked rosette flowers and always one large hanging bell flower from the wave top. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground. The work is made in net stitch and one kind of ornamental ground is used, thicker contour threads run around the motifs.
