About this work
Jacket strip of black bobbin lace: Chantilly lace. On an open mesh ground stands a running pattern of openwork bandwork of horizontal and vertical C-scrolls, forming a breaking wave line. From the crested tops emerge backward-directed swinging blossom branches, intersected by a large, hanging tuft of rose, daisy and blossoms. Below the waves runs a closed scalloped edge of a 'poppy' between blossoms and a rose under three hanging pinks.
