About this work

Bed of teak(?) wood, resting on twisted legs. The corner posts, which end in knobs at the top, are partly twisted and partly built up from houses and turned work. These houses are decorated with carved rosettes and cartouches with volutes and foliage. The headboard is composed of a double row, the lower footboard of a single row of twisted columns between profiled rails. In the inner corners of the lower rails and the posts of these two ends are carved filler pieces with an S-shaped curve, ending in volutes and decorated with dolphins. The scalloped top rail of the headboard is crowned with symmetrical carving with acanthus leaf volutes and dolphins. The profiled side rails of the bed have similar corner pieces with dolphins at both ends as the lower rails of the head and footboards.
