Strip of Japanese black bobbin lace with three feather-shaped leaves under oval cartouches and rose garlands

Strip of black bobbin lace: Chantilly lace. The strip is intended or used for a skirt or jacket; the pattern is partly cut diagonally to fit the strip. The repeating pattern consists around the center line of the strip of an oval cartouche, crowned by two roses and some leafy branches. At the bottom of the cartouche hang three long feather-shaped leaves. The underside of these leaves form part of the shell border. The successive oval cartouches are connected by a broad V-shaped decorative band. In the field sown with square knots above hangs a bouquet of roses whose side branches touch the roses above the cartouche and thus provide the top of the pattern with a rose garland. Below the decorative band hang three garlands between the cartouches. From top to bottom: three large roses with leaves in between; a series of simple rosette flowers; a series of five heart-shaped motifs with fan motifs hanging below.
