Antimacassar of Batiste with Richelieu Work and Cluny Lace

Antimakassar (chair back protector) of natural-colored batiste with embroidery - whitework with Richelieu work - and bobbin lace: Cluny lace. Rectangular model with two points. The model is composed of a horizontal central piece of batiste that is connected on both sides by inserts of bobbin lace to a standing rectangular piece of batiste that is cut to a point at the bottom. A strip of bobbin lace of the same type as the inserts runs around the whole. The inserts and the strip along the upper half of the antimakassar are presumably not original and differ from the strip used along the underside of the antimakassar. Given the attachment and coloring, this strip is presumably original. Four tassels hang at the bottom. In the center of the batiste central piece an insert of bobbin lace is set in a diamond-shaped openwork part, with an eight-petaled flower made with form stitches.
