About this work

Strip of natural bobbin lace, strap lace. The pattern consists of intersecting bands traversing the strip in a zigzag movement, creating diamonds and triangles. One band is worked in dense linen stitch, the intersecting decorative band in net stitch with snowflakes in between. Directly below, two narrower continuous zigzag bands with larger snowflakes form the triangular shells along the bottom edge of the strip. The zigzag bands are connected along the top edge of the strip by a mesh ground. The top edge of the strip is finished straight. The shells are finished with picots.
