About this work
Prayer rug with double mihrab, MAKRI or BERGAMO. Central field: double mihrab in light stone-red with a flattened straight gable and a Tree of Life with large, incised triangular leaves in blue, petrol-green, and aubergine. The spandrels are aubergine with a rosette. Borders: double. The main border is blue with diagonally placed flowers in purple, yellow, red, and green. The inner selvedge is yellow with flowers. Fringe: a fringe runs along the top and bottom; the top one is reinforced with embroidery stitches.
