About this work
Cast-iron fireback. In the center stands the family coat of arms of Joan Huydecoper: a shield with an eagle on the left, a six-pointed star and three ox skulls in the upper right, and a running greyhound in the lower right. In the heart shield a pig. Above the shield a crowned helm between foliage, above which a centaur with arrow and bow. On either side a heraldic festoon and at the bottom a scroll with inscription ANNO 1647. Grotesque creatures on the lower corners. The ornament at the very top is executed in the strapwork style.
