About this work
Cast-iron stove plate with a semicircular top. In the center stands the coat of arms of England from the Tudor period, surrounded by the motto of the Order of the Garter: HONI SOIT QUI MAL I PENSE. The coat of arms is held up on the left by a crowned lion standing on a cartouche with the inscription ANNO; and on the right by a griffin standing on a cartouche with the inscription 1602. Above the coat of arms, a crowned helmet with the letters IR (Iacobus Rex) next to it.
