Square cashmere shawl, with central motif of mitred corners, filled with loose flowers

Square palm shawl, woven of wool, with a white centre whose corners are sloped off. The centre is filled with loose flowers and framed with closely standing flowers. The pattern is symmetrical around both cross axes. In the heart a fine star flower in yellow, red, grey and white. Around it eight loose flowers placed in a rhombus in the same colours, of which four carnations with an inward-facing palmette and four palm-shaped carnations. Around it a ring of twelve flowers, of which eight carnations in yellow and four leaf-shaped yellow flowers. An outer border of twenty other flowers, four times two spade-oval and the middle leaf-shaped, the latter fixed to the finely drawn grid work corner over which small palmettes stand and a square. The border consists of flowing waving scrolls, full of said flowers in the same colours. The side borders run with their strips through over the crossbars. The technique is twill weave. the weft is from behind partly launched, partly cut.
